Ewa Box 2

Ewa Box 2 is one of two container lofts on the same jungle plot near Cahuita, on the Caribbean coast, and the one with its own plunge pool. The other is Ewa Box 1, and the listing Ewa Boxes books both. It has two queen beds, one bathroom and air conditioning for up to four, and it suits couples and small families who want a private pool ten minutes from the beach at a price below renting both villas.

The loft is one open container. Two queen beds sit under a backlit wood headboard with a ceiling fan and air conditioning above, and the glass wall at the end opens onto a deck with a white dining table and a wooden bench. The kitchenette has a two-burner stove, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, toaster, blender and a drip coffee maker, with dishes and cooking basics on open shelves. The bathroom has a walk-in shower tiled in yellow and gray hexagons, a round backlit mirror, shelves of towels and a hair dryer. A few steps from the deck, the plunge pool sits under the trees; guests eat breakfast on its edge. Parking is beside the container, there is a level 2 EV charger, and pets are allowed.

The six reviews so far are all five stars. Guests write about the private pool, the quiet, a container that looks just like the photos, and the forest view from the water. One guest called the EV charger a big plus, and when a power problem came up we did everything we could to fix it. A repeat visitor noted the property is close to the main road, which makes arrival simple.

You will have neighbors some nights: the second container, Box 1, is a short distance away and may have other guests. The pool is yours alone, and Box 1 guests cannot use it. A maintenance person is often on the property, and the pool is serviced on Mondays and Fridays for an hour or less. Quiet hours run from 20:00 to 08:00 and the pool takes no glass. You will need a car, though not a 4x4, and the last three minutes are flat gravel. Bring repellent and sunscreen. Minimum stay is two nights.

Check-in is by smart lock from 15:00 until 02:00. Luggage drop before check-in is allowed while the clean is in progress, and we send directions, the gate code and local tips before you arrive; tell us your arrival time on WhatsApp. Guests put supermarkets and beaches within 15 minutes by car.

From San José the drive to Cahuita crosses the mountains on Route 32 and follows the coast south from Limón. Guides put it at three and a half to four and a half hours, and the pass closes in heavy rain, so check before you leave. In our experience no 4x4 is needed: the route is paved and the last three minutes to the property are flat gravel in fair condition. A guest noted the property sits close to the main road, so finding it is simple with the instructions. Buses and shared shuttles reach Cahuita; at the property you need a car.
